We are so pleased and happy to have been given the blessing of having a baby girl in our lives now. Scarlett, for sure took her time getting here. After 20 hours of labor and a total of 3.5 days in the hospital, we are home safe and sound. Scarlett Elise Rohrer was born at 6:16am on November 18, 2009. She weighed in at 11 lbs even. J/K, she was 7lbs. 13.2oz. and 21.5" long. She was born with, what we thought were minor complications, but came to find out that they were pretty serious. She was born with the chord partially around her neck restricting some breathing. She also had bruising at the back of the head that caused a little under the scalp bleeding. These issues put her in the NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) for the first 8 hours of her life. She was released from the NICU about 2 or 3 in the afternoon same day and was on a careful lab testing/care schedule to monitor healing and progress. She improved extremely fast and is doing as well as she possibly could. We are so glad to be home in a comfortable living space. It is amazing to be parents and we are so excited to be starting this new adventure in our lives. We look forward to seeing all of you for Christmas:) Scarlett says she loves you all and is also excited to meet everyone.Hehe!

Scarlet is so beautiful and precious....and she talks too? wow! What a gifted child you have! 21.5 inches is long, even for a boy. She's going to be tall!
Long for a boy? How about long for little Heather. Scarlett was packed in there tight which was no picnic for poor Mom.
Hope Lucas isn't jealous that another blog hog has surfaced. Ahh. La vida dulce.

Correction: it was 30 hours of labor, not 20!!! Those extra 10 hours can't be left out! Haha! ;)

Man, I can testify that little baby Carl (sCARLet)is even cuter in person. I have only seen her once. Its like all she does is keep to herself and eat. If she doesn't get out more and lay off mama's sauce, she is going really plump up. Just ask Oprah. It happens every time!
